Catching public transport
Public transport is a great way to safely get to and from school. You can use the TransportNSW site or the Opal Travel app to plan your trip.
Catching a bus
Students can catch a bus to and from school. Buses stop directly in front of the school.
Catching a train
Birrong train station is the closest station to Birrong Public School. It is a distance of approximately 700m. Please use the TransportNSW site or the Opal Travel app to plan your trip.
Apply for a travel pass
Eligible students can get a free travel pass under the School Student Transport Scheme. Apply for a travel pass today.
Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.
Keep our school community safe by:
- driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
- being a good role model
- never calling your child from across the road
- using the safest place to cross the road.
When driving and parking near our school, please:

ensure you park safely in school zones, children to exit vehicles curb side
- there is limited parking at the Band Hall Reserve, next to the school, operated by the council and parking restrictions apply

follow speed signs - 40km/hour during the hours of 8:00am-9.30am and 2.30pm-4:00pm on weekdays

do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school

do not park illegally as parking rangers regularly inspect our streets

please use the pedestrian crossing in front of the school - we do not have a crossing supervisors

access to the school (side gate) is available from Ferrier Rd, however parking is limited: please use the pedestrian crossing opposite the fenced dog park.
Discuss with your child how to be safe when:
- walking, in the car, waiting for, travelling on, and getting off the bus
- riding bikes, scooters and skateboards When driving and parking near our school, please:
